Hi there,
I am busy going through the process of submitting a patent application to USPTO through EFS WEB --- I have my customer number, access certificate and I'm done creating my patent abstract/claims/figures etc.
The Accelerated Application seems to require a patent search document which I'd love some help with please. USPTO gives an example to follow:
http://www.uspto.gov/web/patents/accele ... sample.doc : "Pre-Examination Search Document"
In the example they list a number of resources that need to be consulted in order to complete this search document. Now these all seem to be "paid-subscription" resources - like Dialog. I am familiar with free patent search engines like google patents and http://www.freepatentsonline.com, as well as the USPTO online patent search tool, and the EPO search tool. However these are not explicitly listed in the document.
Now if I do a normal non-provisional application instead of an "accelerated" application, will USPTO allow me to submit without providing a Pre-Examination Search Document.
My other question please is: how rigorous do I need to be in creating my Pre-Examination Search Document? Would it be sufficient to cite the free online search tools or would my application be rejected?
(BTW In terms of an informal patent search - this I have already done.)
Thanks
AbbeyRoad
